ELIGE VIVIR SANO

The program “Elige Vivir Sano” is a program that seeks to incorporate both old and new habbits that promotes better and healthier lifestyle, helping reduce bad conducts that elevate the risk or having a  Non-communicable Diseases.

The program has been implemented since March 2011 and its main objective is to be a referent for a better quality of life for Chileans, and to start to implement public policies in a middle-long term horizon. It search to do a “cultural change” in people and families in Chile thanks to a new generation of politics, that can motivate Chileans alike to start choosing better actions that can lead to a healthier and better life.

Nowadays, the head of the program is the First Lady, Mrs. Cecilia Morel. There is a permanent group of the presidency that is advocated to the program, plus several ministries, including Education, Health, Agriculture, Sports and Social work.

The main attributes of the program is proactive, positive and practical, because it invites all Chileans with innovative and sometimes funny methods to be able to achieve a better quality of life by doing more physical education and eating more healthier.

At the same way, it invokes the family and the environment, as 2 pragmatics factors that can both lead the way and help to achieve the other 2 objectives.

The program planning is that from 2012, three other objectives will be added: reduce/prevent the consumption of tobacco, reduce/prevent the consumption of alcohol and reduce/prevent the consumption of illegal drugs

The program works in 5 different ways:

  1. A public policy for the medium and long term of a inter-sectorial mainframe.
  2. Decentralized incentives through a national level,
  3. Promote citizen participation.
  4. Forge public-private alliances and
  5. Massive promotional campains on a nacional level.

Coordinator

Journalist from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a master’s degree in International relationships in Columbia University, New York. She has worked for the last five years as a partner director in Etcheberrry Strategy Communication Group, firm that has over 20 clients of very different área of work which whom interers are from interntal communication to external communication in different aspects. She lead a main role in the Bicientenary commision and as the director of the Elige Vivir Sano program. Her main atributes are group management and Project implementation, with a strong leadership and excellent communication. She has also worked in important magazines in chile, as an editor in “la revista del Sábado” from an important newspaper in Chile, which she also was a co-founder. In her profesional carreer, she has also been part in the communication department in the ski center Valle Nevado, also been corresponsal from several newspapers when she was studying abroad. She has had an academic career as a teacher in both Finis Terrae and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
